The campfire is your light, heat and anchor. Upgrading it changes how safely your squad can play — and it gates content like the fishing chat code.
Why the campfire matters
- Night survival — a brighter, higher-level fire keeps threats at bay and marks your safe zone.
- Content unlocks — level 2 grants access to the fishing rod path, which enables the yay fishing chat code (2 Gems).
- Base value — the fire area is where walls, traps, shelves and crates do their work; a weak fire makes a strong base pointless.
Upgrade priorities (framework order)
- Campfire to level 2 as soon as possible — fishing unlock and a much safer nights 5–6 window.
- Level 3+ before expanding the base — bigger defenses only pay off if the core is stable.
- Leave the very last levels for late-game — they cost heavy wood and materials that are better spent on weapons first.

Quick tips
- Assign a dedicated fire-keeper in squads so upgrades aren’t forgotten mid-day.
- Stock fire fuel / wood before dusk — running out at night is a run-ender.
- The campfire upgrade path pairs with the Crafting Bench upgrades — do both, bench first.
