Forest Rage is the hard-mode layer of 99 Nights in the Forest — reached after the main run, it raises threat scaling and adds the Corruption mechanic, Rift clearing and the Research Outpost end-game objective.

⚠️ In progress: This guide is part of the writing queue — the systems below are the confirmed direction (Corruption / Rift clearing / Research Outpost) with the detailed numbers and strats being verified. Treat everything as framework content for now.

What changes in Forest Rage

  • Threat scaling — monsters hit harder, spawn earlier and scale faster.
  • Corruption — corrupted zones spread across the map and must be managed.
  • Rifts — clearing Rifts is the way to push back Corruption.
  • Research Outpost — the late-game objective that ties the hard-mode loop together.

How to prepare

  1. Max the campfire and bench before entering — hard mode punishes weak cores.
  2. Stockpile wood and food — double what a normal run needs.
  3. Collect Modifier Flames early — Flames are the real damage multiplier in hard mode.
  4. Squad up — hard mode is brutal solo.

The hard-mode loop (framework)

  1. Day: clear Corruption at the edges, gather, upgrade.
  2. Dusk: close the base — hard-mode nights attack harder and smarter.
  3. Rift windows: when a Rift is active, a strike squad clears it to reduce Corruption pressure.
  4. Outpost: repair and research at the Research Outpost to progress the final objective.

Current knowledge gaps

  • Exact Corruption spread rate and Rift timers — being verified.
  • Research Outpost repair costs — being verified.
  • Whether late nights change the spawn schedule — being verified.

New findings land in Updates — and in the video section as walkthroughs become available.
